Preview: Discard and Draw

Yeah, ok, on my previously mentioned scale of 1 to 10 of things I want to keep writing, this ranks at 11. It’s more epic in scope than my other works (at least in theory) but I really love the few character’s I’ve created for it so far. Especially Joe, for some reason, although his personality doesn’t fully come through in this prologue. Oh, and it’s also… well, just read it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The god found him, drifting in the absolute darkness between worlds. He had lost all sense of time, all sense of self; he didnโ€™t even realize his own consciousness. But the god spoke to him, and he responded.

<Ah, so this is where you ended up.>

โ€œWhereโ€ฆ amโ€ฆ Iโ€ฆโ€

<Mm. The wrong question. There is no โ€œwhereโ€ here — this is a gap.> Continue reading

Preview: Dead Life Phantasmagoria

This is the first chapter (supposedly) of a slightly more psychedelic story I conceived of at one time. Ideally, it would be both creepy and amusing, although I don’t know if I have the talent to pull that off. On the scale of 1 to 10 of “things I intend to return to,” it’s probably about a 3. However, I absolutely loved writing the dialogue below, so it would be a pity for it to go to waste, I guess? ๐Ÿ˜›

I died.

I died, right?

Sunday Digest: Taking a step back

Hey, everyone! I’ve been saying this for a while now, but consider this a final heads-up: no new chapters for a while. I’m really kicking the preparation for our move into gear, and there is a lot I still need to do, so I can’t concentrate on writing right now.

In fact, even this message is something I prepped yesterday, and scheduled ahead to be posted on Sunday. Yay, scheduling! ๐Ÿ˜›

That said. I do have a few more preview/excerpt/whatever things to share with you, during this period while I’m (mostly) away from my proverbial desk. I have also scheduled these ahead of time, so they should go live on Wednesday and Friday… Oh, and since next Sunday will literally be my first day in the new place, I’m not going to be posting anything that day either. As for the following week… well, we’ll see. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, if you care to comment on anything, I will try to respond in a reasonable time frame. It’s not like I’m going to the moon, I’m just busy. ๐Ÿ˜›

Preview: Sharpening the Fang

So yeah, this is something I’m definitely going to actually write someday. Despite the name of the male MC, it’s a much more traditional western fantasy than the world of Anubai Hero or Living Will. Well, I call him the MC, but the action is going to follow the elf and her party much of the time… you know what? Just read it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Chapter 0

Awaken to a New World

He awakens to the sound of birds. A cool wind caresses his face, and he can hear it rustling the leaves of the trees around him. He feels sunlight dappling his skin, and soft ground beneath him. Somewhere nearby, water is flowing over rocks, completing the peaceful and idyllic scene. He takes all this in, without opening his eyes, and forms his first coherent thought: How odd. Sunday Digest: Metal, metal, metal

Good evening, everyone! Ah, it seems like this digest post is coming out late, huh? I assure you, it isn’t because I completely forgot it was Sunday… ^^;

Well, actually, it really wasn’t. For the first time in a while, my Go club met this morning, so I got to play a couple games. Which was fun, but my skill and knowledge has definitely dropped… well, maybe I shouldn’t say that since I won both games. But it could have gone either way! ๐Ÿ˜›

…I kinda feel like talking a bit more about Go, but let’s leave that for a separate post sometime.

Anyway, the sixteenth chapter of the Anubai Hero was released on Friday, featuring a couple of guest characters from the writings of OhMarioWV! To his slight surprise. But he was kind enough to allow it, and help me adjust the speech patterns, so thanks to him once more! ๐Ÿ˜€ Continue reading

The Anubai Hero, Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Gan Zhu was shocked, and unwittingly he froze in place just like the man had ordered.

It was unfortunate, but Gan Zhu had become arrogant. Even knowing that he had made an enemy of the strong and terrible Fan clan, he hadnโ€™t believed they could track him down so quickly, and so he hadnโ€™t bothered with any basic precautions. In addition, this assassin had known enough about his demonic abilities as to hide his own breath — but Gan Zhu had never explained his abilities to anyone! How had the assassin known?

โ€œStep forward,โ€ the man ordered coldly. Gan Zhu slowly obeyed, taking two steps into the room. The man, whom he had still not laid eyes on, quickly kicked the door shut before moving around to Gan Zhuโ€™s front, maintaining a distance between them. Continue reading

Sunday Digest: The road ahead

Hey there, everyone. As you noticed, there was no chapter this week, exactly like I said there wouldn’t be. So, that makes me trustworthy and reliable, right? Right? :\

I’m thinking that I won’t have a lot of time to write in the next few weeks, either, so I have no idea when I’ll finally have Anubai 16 ready to go. I entirely intend to get us all off that cliff I left us on, but… Well, things are happening. So we’ll all just have to wait.

In the mean time, I think I’ll dive into my extensive pile of “incomplete” writings, just to give everyone something to look at while I’m dealing with other things. Such as this week’s entry, a prologue(?) for a somewhat more typical fantasy novel than I usually write. I had some interesting moments in mind, but I didn’t really have a solid plot for it, so… it stalled in the first chapter. I do hope to return to it sometime… but that time isn’t now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keeping it short, I put together a (relatively) simple model this week:

An electric lead guitar. It was a little fiddly attaching the back to the front, but I got it done in the end. Single sheet, so it didn’t take too long either. I have started on the last model in my possession, which will also be the last model I put together at my current place — look forward to it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for prepping for moving… well, it’s questionable how well it’s going, but at least I’ve reviewed all the stuff I own by this point, and I’m considering what I can get rid of. It still seems like there is too much to do, but… have to get it done somehow. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Alright, I’m supposed to be working on my closet right now, so back to work. Good luck, everyone. ๐Ÿ˜€

In lieu of a chapter: How about a bad dream?

Hey there. As expected, the chapter for this week, isn’t. So, you’ll just have to hang on that cliff for a while. ๐Ÿ˜›

Since I don’t have anything else, though, I thought I’d dig into some of my unfinished work and pick out something to share. This, for instance, was meant as a prologue for a fantasy novel with multiple points of view. However, I stalled on the very first chapter. :\

But, even in the absence of the story that is supposed to go with it, maybe you’ll still find it somewhat interesting. I hope so, anyway.

Just think of it… as a bad dream…

The world was wrapped in flames. They raged from horizon to horizon, under a sky roiling with smoky clouds, lit a terrible red from the flames below. It was a view of a world consumed by calamity, bereft of hope. The flames had consumed everything, but they remained even in the absence of fuel and life, burning eternally. Continue reading

Sunday Digest: I’m overwhelmed by all the crap I own.

Evening, everyone. Let’s get this started before I run out of Sunday. Again.

Starting with the model front, here’s my new U-Boat:

Uh, blurrier when I see it on the screen, maybe I should get another one. Well, good enough for now. As you can see, the side is open so you can see “inside” the sub. Which is cool, but I can’t help feeling like I should be posting little notes, like “this is the bunk room” or “this is the engine room”… and since I don’t actually know what they are, it would be kind of tough for me.

But I had a lot of fun putting it together! I get a little giddy with these complicated models, although they don’t always turn out for the best. For instance… Continue reading

The Anubai Hero, Chapter 15

Chapter 15

The Balkiri Continent was an extremely dangerous place to live. Especially if you were a human; unlike monstrous beasts, humans are born weak, and only the most assiduous cultivation will prevent one from being weak for oneโ€™s entire life.

Monstrous beasts, on the other hand, were naturally blessed in comparison. Not having to worry about cultivation techniques, esoteric arts, or even basic strategy, these monstrous beasts were gifted with long life, ever-growing power, and a single path leading toward invincibility. Not to mention, many types of monstrous beast were smarter than humans as well, and capable of long-term planning to an even greater degree.

Indeed, if you were to say that the Balkiri Continent belonged in its entirety to the monstrous beasts, it would not be entirely inaccurate! Continue reading
